The 2008 Mercedes Benz CLK63 AMG Black series made its global debut at the New York International Auto Show in April of 2007, Celebrating 40 Years of AMG high-performance cars. The CLK63 AMG Black Series is a street legal version of the Official F1 Safety Car, which adapts design and tech from the F1 world.

For starters, the Black Series is a 500 horsepowers version of the AMG 6.3-liter V8 engine, with 0-60 acceleration of 4.1 seconds, and a governed top speed of 186mph. This was the first engine designed totally by AMG, and hosts a wealth of featured derived from AMG’s highly successful racing heritage.

The automatic transmission features manual and sport driving programs (with no comfort mode available), plus the ability to shift through gear using aluminum shift paddles on the 14.1 inch DTM-Style leather steering wheel.

The F1-inspired design and technology is carried through the interior of the dedicated the two seater sports touring car dispenses with rear seats and adds exclusive AMG front bucket seats covered in rich nappa leather with embroidered AMG Logos. A specially contoured aluminum shift lever, engine “start-stop” button and carbon fiber trim on the center console and instrument cluster underscore the car’s competition roots.
