“Look out baby, ‘cause here come da judge!” joked a gavel wielding Sammy Davis Jr. during the popular tv ensemble comedy show of the late 1960s, Laugh-in. Pontiac Motor Divisions General Manager John Delorean responded by saying, “Let’s give them the judge”, and thus Pontiac created an appearance/performance option package intended to bolster the sales image of the GTO.
The Judge option package featured the Ram Air 400 as the standard engine, an aluminum Hurst T Handle topping the 4 speed shift lever, the Ride and Handling Package, a set of multi-color pop art striped and logos, and a full width rear deck lid air foil. The initial 2000 The Judges were painted in a loud shade of orange Pontiac called Carousel Red.
The Ram Air III induction system featured functional hood scoops and high-flow air filters, optimizing airflow and fuel mixture for maximum performance, producing 366 horsepower and 445 lb-ft of torque. Mated to a robust four-speed manual transmission and combined with other performance enhancements, such as heavy-duty suspension components and power-assisted front disc brakes, the GTO Judge Ram Air III offered a driving experience that was nothing short of electrifying.
This stunning 1970 example is finished in a striking Polar White exterior over a vibrant red vinyl interior. It has been previously restored to a highly original condition and features minor upgrades such as a tubular style control arms and Bilstein shocks for improved ride quality. As a note, you can see in the pictures some minor paint issues. The endura nose has some cracking, a paint crack is present on the hood and there are some blemishes on the driver-side roof.
